Having the Tcl, Expect and DejaGnu packages installed before beginning the build is highly recommended so you can run the full suite of tests.

I was able to build GCC on Michele’s system. After several false starts and and hitting some of the same errors, I was able to build GCC 7.3.0 with the following steps. I think the biggest changes are to use the contrib/ download _prerequisites script to get the gmp, mpc, and mfpr sources and to force GCC to use the system ld and as programs.
